I produce new pieces every weekday -- more than 120 now since my launch last September -- covering the spectrum of local arts, from theater and dance to visual art, music and literature. Soon, 3-Minute Egg will become a public television program. Please take a gander at my site. If you do a follow-up article, please consider 3-Minute Egg as an example of something positive happening in arts journalism.

I’m a former arts staff writer for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, now producing 3-Minute Egg (3minuteegg.org), where I cover the Twin Cities arts scene exclusively through online video. You may be interested in the Art&Seek initiative at KERA public radio/television in North Texas: www.artandseek.org. This is our attempt to increase arts coverage and explore new approaches to it. More than 1600 arts orgs and venues are involved, as well as professional journalists and guests from the arts community. Happy to share more: abothwell@kera.org

Nice piece, really hits home. I've been writing in the arts since the late 1980s, and boy, is it a different world now. I continue to contribute to local print and some national slicks, but much of my work is for an on-line journal started several years ago by some prescient people. Slowly, slowly, as newspapers wither all around us, Classical Voice of North Carolina (www.cvnc.org) has acquired respect and status among readers--and presenters--hungry for coverage of the lively arts. In addition to providing statewide calendars, CVNC (which uses the non-profit model) publishes timely reviews and criticism by numerous highly knowledgeable paid writers around the state. It is really a fantastic thing, and will only become better as it becomes possible to exploit the characteristic unique to the electronic medium.

Good story.
