Nor, in general, does the public understand how the profession of journalist works and how news is gathered and disseminated leading to misunderstandings and inaccurate characterizations. Journalism 101 - the general formula, excluding op-ed pieces, is that a variety of &quot;experts&quot; are interviewed in a fair and balanced way for factual information and regarding their viewpoint and hopefully reliable, accurate facts in meaningful context are the result. Most news fits this model. The reporter does not say - &quot;this is what I personally think&quot;, they should always attribute everything to a specific source. Not liking what a source says does not make the news account biased. Its evening opinion lineup has a liberal slant, to be sure.
