Many games provide an interface for the player to not only select, but customize the avatar in the game. many also provide fantastic races such as animal or alien races. Research that infers such imbalances fuels racism. I suspect the sampling excluded fictional races and failed to consider the popularity of faction choices over skin color. It is indeed only a game until someone makes it personal by suggesting the industry has a racist agenda. Seems like bias research to me.
