American history did not begin "When Predator Came," to quote the title of a book co-written by Prof. Ward Churchill.Other works by Churchill that might be of interest are, "A Little Matter of Genocide," "Agents of Repression," and "Perversions of Justice."As any mention of Churchill usually evokes personal attacks on him or his ancestry, it should be noted that when the University of Colorado fired him, they set panels of scholars to work to try to find a cause for termination in his writings. Poring over more than 40,000 footnotes, they found five which they claimed to be basis for termination (and which a jury recently found not to be so), but not a single error of fact, only instances of disputed interpretation and a claim that he had plagiarized himself. The history of this country must include all its history, not just some of it. To call a course, "American History" and not include the history of Native Americans, is to perpetrate a fraud on students. Excellent article.
